LLOYD A. NICKERSON SWANVILLE – Lloyd Alonzo Nickerson, 83, died Sept. 11, 2005, at his residence surrounded by his family. Lloyd was born in Belfast, Dec. 4, 1921, the son of Alonzo T. and Mabel Hassell Nickerson. He attended Belfast schools and graduated from Crosby High School. During World War II, he worked at Bath Iron Works. He played baseball on the BIW and the Belfast merchant’s team. After the war he and his brother bought a farm and went into the dairy business, which he operated for 35 years. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the NRA. Most of his life he worked in the woods and enjoyed life completely. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife, Velma K. (Page) Nickerson; three brothers, True Nickerson, Merle Nickerson and Stanley Nickerson; also two sisters, Beatrice Teal and Rose Thompson. He is survived by his three children, Katherine Harjla, Kenneth and Kathy Nickerson and Emery and Judith B. Nickerson, all of Swanville. Lloyd had 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Rackliffe Funeral Home, 54 Church St., Belfast. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at the family lot in the Smart Cemetery in Belfast.
