HERMON – Lloyd D. Robinson went to be with the Lord Jan. 28, 2007, after a courageous battle with renal cell carcinoma. He was born Aug. 19, 1935, the son of William D. and Marguerite (Lord) Robinson. After graduation from Hermon High School in 1953, he was employed by Dysarts, Inc., and later he worked at Bangor & Aroostook Railroad, before enlisting in the Air Force for eight years of active duty. In 1965 he began Robbie’s Heating Oils. At that time, he was also a rural mail carrier. Later, he owned and operated the Hermon Ski Area and McKay’s RV Center. He retired from the Air National Guard in 1977, after 24 years of service. Lloyd was also one of the founders of Merrill Merchants Bank, serving on the Board of Directors and various committees there. He founded the Hermon Skeet Club in 1965 and was Maine State Skeet Shooting Champion for many years. He was inducted into the Maine State Skeet Association Hall of Fame in 2002. He was also a gun enthusiast and an avid shotgun collector. A seaplane pilot, he loved the north woods, camp on Upper Jo-Mary Lake and his home on Hermon Pond. He attended Hermon Baptist Church. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Carlene E.; mother, Marguerite S. Robinson; daughter, Lori A. Morneault and husband, Loman Joseph; son, David G. Robinson and wife, Debra; brother, Daniel Robinson and wife, Betty; sister, Rita Beckman and husband, Edwin; especially loved grandchildren, Kathryn L. Lozier and Joseph A. Lozier; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Herman Baptist Church with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor officiating. After the service, friends and family are all invited to share conversation and refreshments in the church dining facility.
