CLARKSVILLE, Tenn., and OLD TOWN – Tech Sargent Lorimer Earl “Larry” Silk, 80, of Clarksville, Tenn., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tenn. He was born Aug. 1, 1926, in Somerville, Mass., son of the late William and Grace Campbell Silk. Larry served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was also a retired AAFES employee at the former Dow Air Force Base/Bangor Air National Guard, Bangor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, and DAV. He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine Theresa Silk; son, Jon Francis Silk; brother, William “Bill” Silk of Somer-ville, Mass.; and sister, Barbara Nichols of Kingsville, Texas. Survivors include a sister, Merle Allsopp of Willoughby, Ohio; daughter, Cheryl Ann Read of Burlson, Texas; two sons, Mark Andrew Silk of Orono and Peter Wayne Silk of Clarksville, Tenn.; and six grandchildren, Erica Read of Dallas, Brandon Silk of Orono, David Silk of Orono, Christopher Silk of Clarksville, Tenn., Blaine Silk of Orono, and Shaun Silk of Clarksville, Tenn. A funeral Mass will be held 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Clarksville, Tenn. A spring memorial Mass will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church, Old Town. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.
