ORRINGTON – Lorraine D. Phillips, 89, wife of the late John W. Phillips, died Sept. 10, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare center. She was born June 29, 1916, in Old Town, the daughter of John and Sarah (Leavitt) Dennis. Lorraine was a 1934 graduate of Old Town High School, and worked as a secretary for the University of Maine Agriculture Department and at Dow Air Force Base until the conclusion of World War II. Lorraine and John married in 1942 and were married 54 years, until his passing in 1997. Surviving are three children, William J. Phillips of Lewiston, Robert V. Phillips and his wife, Bette, and Richard J. Phillips and his wife, Sherry, all of Orrington; eight grandchildren, Amanda C. Leen and her husband, Thomas, of Standish, Stephanie A. of Portland and Kurt W. of Luenenberg, Germany, Benjamin V. and his wife, Suzie, Erin Y. and Mike, Courtney E. and Randy, Michael R. and Amy, and Daniel J. all of Orrington; one great-grandchild, Emma E., of Orrington. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Nelson and John Dennis; and a sister, Marion Berry. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Adam Soderberg, pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be at Marston Cemetery, Orrington.
