PORTLAND – Lottie M. Steele, 93, passed away March 16, 2005. She was born May 7, 1911, in Gorham, a daughter to Charles and Mabel (Cousins) Libby. She owned the Economy Wallpaper and Paint Store in Portland until her retirement in 1970. Lottie will be remembered for her love of Bingo. She also enjoyed spending family time at the lake house. Lottie was a real “people person” as she loved her family and close friends to be around her all the time. She enjoyed her time with various organizations and was the past president of the Eagles Lodge; was a member of the Woodford Post Ladies’ Auxiliary; and was the past president of the VFW Auxiliary. Lottie is survived by a sister, Evelyn Johnston; a niece BettyLou Mitchell; grandchildren, Carl and Howard Lerman, Rita Wexler, Leah Lagasse, and Karl Jr., Leah, Anna, Sammy, Natalie, Chris, Theresa, Shaun, Tony, and Rosemary Geisinger; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands Abe Geisinger and Fred Steele; and three children, Carl Geisinger, Morris Geisinger and Ruth Johnson. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2005, with a funeral service, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Hay and Peabody Funeral Home, 749 Congress St., Portland. Her nephew, Rev. Robert Johnston of Houlton will be officiating. Interment will follow at Brooklawn Cemetery.
