SWANVILLE – Louis L. Grzeskowiak, 85, passed away Aug. 31, 2007, surrounded by loved ones, in Belfast. He was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Detroit, son of John and Eva (Sylvester) Grzeskowiak. After school, he moved to Belfast, where he met his beloved wife, Verna. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II. Louis worked at Viking Lumber Co., and Belfast Manufacturing, as a cutter until his retirement. For years, he operated a small business, Lou’s Saw Filing. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed building birdhouses and wishing wells in his spare time. Louis was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Verna; two brothers, Albert Robertson and Guy Reynolds; and three sisters, Helen Moon, Phyllis Soper and Olive Goodwin. Survivors include his daughter, Pearl Chevenir and husband, Ellis, of Norridgewock; sister, Mona Goodwin of Bangor; brothers, Raymond Robertson of Blue Hill, Joseph Robertson and wife, Hazel, of Huntsville, Ala., and Calvin Robertson of San Francisco; special nieces, Delores Merry and Libby Butterfield; four special nephews, Randy Holmes, Calvin, Richard and Douglas Stark, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Smart Cemetery. A gathering will be after at Louis’ home, 109 Swan Lake Ave. Those who wish may make donations in Louis’ memory to the American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, South Portland, ME 04106.
