LOUISE (BARON) LAGASSE FORT KENT – Louise (Baron) Lagasse, 60, died Jan. 23, 2008, at a Frenchville health care facility. Louise was born July 27, 1947, in St. Agatha, the daughter of Marc Emile and Theresa (Franck) Baron. Louise was raised in Madawaska and graduated from Madawaska High School. She pursued a career in the health care profession and graduated from d’Youville Hospital School of Practical Nursing, Cambridge, Mass. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Northern Maine Medical Center, Fort Kent, for 10 years. She then left the health care profession and went on to graduate from Mr. Bernard’s School of Cosmetology. She operated her own beauty salon for many years. She was also involved with Philip Blanchette Group Home after being the first family teacher in the state of Maine to be directly certified by Boy’s Town. In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her youngest brother, Marc, in 2005. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Paul of Eagle Lake; two brothers, Philip Baron of Madawaska, and Tom Baron and his wife, Rita, of Madawaska, and their family, Stephane, Tammy (Baron), Sophie and Cedric Hedou of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and Brock and Christina (Baron) Corcoran of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sisters-in-law, Kathy Baron and her children, Emily, Alex and Justin, of Madawaska, and Irene Lagasse of Lima, Peru, and her children, Natalie Powell of Florida, Katherine Stanton of Texas, Angela Rueda of Spain and Eric Lagasse of Peru. Louise drew great strength from her faith and was active in her church. She was a former chairperson of the Church Life Commission, a member of Columbiettes, and an Eucharistic minister at St. Louis Parish, Fort Kent. Her faith enabled her to overcome adversity and to offer support to whoever needed it. She was a kind and compassionate person, never being critical, judgmental, or demanding of anyone. She lived life to the fullest and had real “joie de vivre.” She will be dearly missed. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday until time of services at Daigle and Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Burial in the spring will be held May 9.
