BANGOR – Lt. Kenneth G. Laidlaw Sr., 96, of Park East Villa, formerly of Newport, R.I., and a longtime resident of Rehoboth, Mass., died Nov. 10, 2007, at home. He was the husband of Renee (Drummond) Laidlaw. Born in Providence, R.I., he was a son of the late Gavin and Jennie (Chatto) Laidlaw. Mr. Laidlaw was a 1932 graduate of the University of Rhode Island and served his country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a salesman for Mason Can Co. In the early 1970s, he retired from teaching in the Rehoboth school system. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth (Dekker) Laidlaw, in 1974. In addition to his wife, Mr. Laidlaw leaves a son, Duncan G. Laidlaw of Lincoln, R.I.; daughters-in-law, Priscilla Laidlaw of Campton, N.H., and Carol Laidlaw of Norton, Mass.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren by his second wife. He was predeceased by sons, Kenneth G. Laidlaw Jr. and Derek Laidlaw. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at J.H. Williams & Co. Funeral Home, 210 Taunton Ave., East Providence, R.I. Burial with military honors will be at Rehoboth Village Cemetery, Rehoboth, Mass. Calling hours and flowers respectfully omitted. Memorials may be directed to your favorite charity.
