AUGUSTA – Lucien Francis Poulin, 75, of Lilac Lane, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, surrounded by loved ones at his son, Reggie’s home, after a brief illness. He was born July 27, 1928, in Berlin, N.H., the son of Phillippe and Evelyn (Bolduc) Poulin. Lucien moved to Howland in the mid 1940s, where he began his career as a woodcutter. He was married for several years to Gilda St. Thomas and raised a family of nine children. In addition to working in the woods, he and his wife operated Poulin’s General Store in Howland. This is where Lucien met many French Canadian friends. Lucien took great pride in his work in the woods and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting around Hardy Brook area and Pond Farm, where he said he always got his “Big Buck.” He was a former member of the Lincoln Council Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Eagles Club of Brewer. Lucien was an avid card player, always ready for a game of Scat “31,” his weekly card dates were an event he greatly looked forward to. Lucien was predeceased by his parents; and two sons, Michael and Normand. He leaves behind two sons, Reginald J. Poulin and his wife, Peggy, of Augusta and David L. Poulin and his significant other, Valerie Nicholson, of West Enfield; five daughters, Bernadette Andrus and her husband, Cliff, of Southington, Conn., Janelle Gath and her husband, Sam, of Burnham, Marita Nutter and her husband, Mike, of West Enfield, Carmela Thompson and her husband, Lynn, of South China, and Juliette Guimond and her husband, Terri, of Lincoln; five sisters; two brothers; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
