PEMBROKE – Lucille Smith DeVola, 85, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at her home in Pembroke. She was born Dec. 25, 1919, in West Pembroke, daughter of the late Lyman and Velma (Cushing) Smith. Lucille attended Pembroke Schools and graduated from Pembroke High School and Bliss Business School in Lewiston. She worked for many years in New York and retired from Equitable Paper Bag Company as bookkeeper before returning to her home in Pembroke. Lucille was a member of the Iron Works Methodist Church in Pembroke. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Tom DeVola; and her friend and companion, Frank Gannon. Lucille will be sadly missed by special friends, Cissie Gannon Murphy, Wanda Gannon Robinson, Marlene Gannon Walsh, and Thursa Sawyer. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held noon, Sunday, Nov. 6, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Pembroke, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating.
