CAMDEN – Lucinda Rich Waterman, 89, of Camden passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 2003, at Anderson Inn. She was born on July 29, 1914, in Charleston, the daughter of Alpheus and Cora Wilson Rich. She attended local schools and graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1933 and the University of Maine in 1937. From that date until her marriage, she worked as a University of Maine Extension/Home Demonstration Agent in Knox and Lincoln counties. She married Clarence E. (Bob) Waterman of North Haven in Rockland on Jan. 10, 1943. Bob and Lucinda had met while skiing at the Camden Snow Bowl. The Watermans moved to Camden in 1947. Mrs. Waterman taught at Camden High School and Camden-Rockport High School from 1963 until 1970. She was a member of the Chestnut Street Baptist Church in Camden for many years, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Mission Circle and Chadavae. She was a wonderful caring volunteer for many organizations including the Camden Health Care Center Auxiliary, Cash for Clothes, RSVP, the American Red Cross and 4-H clubs. Mrs. Waterman is survived by her husband of 60 years, Clarence “Bob” Waterman of Camden; three children, Rebecca Otten and her husband, Bob, of South Salem, N.Y., Robert Waterman and his wife, Sherryl, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sally Crockett and her husband, John, of Weinheim, Germany; a brother, Edwin S. Rich of Woolwich; sisters-in-law Clara Waterman of North Haven and Phyllis Winslow of Rockland; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Franklin W. Rich of Charleston. Visitation will be held 12 noon Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at the Chestnut Street Baptist Church in Camden. The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Wayne Wallace officiating. Interment will be private at the Mountain View Cemetery. A reception for friends and family will be held at The Terraces, second floor, Anderson Inn Quarry Hill at 3 p.m. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Camden Health Care Auxiliary, 20 Community Drive, Camden, ME 04843 or the Chestnut Street Baptist Church, P.O.
