PRESQUE ISLE and ASHLAND – Lucy Faye (Bolstridge) Allen, 72, died Feb. 24, 2007, at a Presque Isle hospital after a long illness. She was born Feb. 13, 1935, at Portage Lake (Buffalo), the 13th child of 14 to Wallace and Edith (Clark) Bolstridge. Lucy was a 1952 graduate of Ashland High School and attended Aroostook State Teachers College, Presque Isle. She worked for many years for the Ashland School District, both as a teacher and cafeteria cook. She also managed apart-ment complexes in Phoenix and for TESCO in Presque Isle for a number of years. Lucy was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Unit 9699, Ashland; was a member of the Ashland Fire Department for 25 years and an EMT for the Ashland Ambulance Service for 14 years. She attended the Ashland Advent Christian Church, and most recently, the Easton United Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Easton Happy Days Senior Citizens Club. Many of Lucy’s years of work and community service were shared with her husband of nearly 53 years, Frank J. Allen Jr., her high school sweetheart, with whom she was married April 16, 1954. In addition to her husband of Presque Isle, she is survived by four children, Diana Dube and her husband, Paul, of Damariscotta, Linda and her partner, Paul Mills, of Tucson, Ariz., Frank Allen III and his wife, Debra, of Mars Hill, and Douglas Allen and his wife, Carol, of Presque Isle; two grandsons, Frank Allen IV of Mars Hill and Travis Windle of Tucson, Ariz.; three brothers, Charles “Bud” Bolstridge of Boise, Idaho, Floyd Bolstridge of East Millinocket, and Gerald “Pete” Bolstridge of Chicopee, Mass.; one sister, Louisa Bartlett of Houlton; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Lucy always gave of herself, placing thoughts and works for others foremost throughout her life. She will be sadly missed by all. A graveside committal service will be held May 19, at a time to be announced in the family lot at Ashland Municipal Cemetery. A gathering for all will be after to share memories with family and friends. To honor Lucy’s request, in lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in her memory to assist with a special memorial in her memory.
