BLUE HILL – Lucy Marshall Chamberlain died at her Parker Ridge Blue Hill home on Sept, 28, 2003. She was born in Amherst, Mass., Sept. 1, 1909, the daughter of Mary (Brauns) and Joseph Chamberlain. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in the early years of Public Health nursing in various locales, including Baltimore, and the ghettos of Chicago. Her last full time position was as school nurse in Brunswick. After retirement, she did some part time work for Four Town Nursing in Blue Hill. Always interested in the world around her, she enjoyed travel, especially to Scotland and the British Isles, the lands of her heritage of which she was proud. She had been a volunteer at Birdsacre in Ellsworth, Blue Hill Hospital, and Meals for ME. Her former property in Brooklin was the first conservation easement for the Blue Hill Heritage Trust. The preservation of natural history was of great importance to her. Marshall was resolute, tough, determined, and possessed an endearing charm. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a ready laugh. She was genuinely interested in people and enjoyed talks with her friends. She will be missed by her dear friends, many of whom are at St. Dunstan’s and at Parker Ridge. They include the special and caring staff at Parker Ridge Assisted Living. She was a dedicated and longtime member of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, State Street, Ellsworth, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, with Father Christopher Chornyak officiating. Friends are invited to a buffet and gathering at Parker Ridge, South Street, Blue Hill, following the service at 12:30 p.m. Gifts in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Contact may be made to her personal representative and friend, Judith Fuller, P.O. Box 177, Brooklin, ME 04616. Arrangements are by Healey Funeral Home, South Street, Blue Hill.
