SANGERVILLE – Lyle E. Doore, 92, husband of Phyllis J. Doore, went to be with the Lord Aug. 24, 2007, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Charles and Bertha (Stevens) Doore. Mr. Doore was an honorary deacon and a 60-year member of Dover-Foxcroft Baptist Church. Mr. Doore was a successful farmer and was employed as a wood scaler at Stowell-McGregor and Pride Manufacturing. After his retirement, he continued in his farming and followed his beloved Red Sox. He is survived by his wife of 68 years; and five children, Calvin and Angie Doore of Mascoutah, Ill., Lorraine and Ed Harris of Winn, Michael and Judy Doore of Dexter, Suzanne and Ernest Fairbrother of Hampden and James and Jackie Doore of East Sangerville. He was known as “Bim” to 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and he was expecting two more great-grandchildren; and his first great-great-grandchild in the coming months. He was predeceased by two brothers and seven sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Dover-Foxcroft Baptist Church. There will be a private burial at Knowlton Mills Cemetery, East Sangerville. In lieu of flowers, it was Lyle’s request that contributions be made to the Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226, attention, Contribution Services.
