NATICK, Mass. and WEST TREMONT – Lyle Kenyon Joyce, 71, died March 19, 2006, in Weston, Mass. He was born May 25, 1934, in Portland, the son of Charles Raymond and Lessie (Bridges) Joyce. Lyle earned degrees from Boston University and Wesleyan University in Connecticut. He subsequently obtained a doctorate of education at the University of Northern Colorado. After having taught several years in public school systems, he moved on to teach earth science at Miami Dade Junior College for three years and at Central Connecticut State University for 24 years. The family lived in the South Portland area until 1950, at which time they moved to Newton, Mass. Lyle had one sister and three brothers two of whom have survived him, Weston and Paul. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit 10-11 a.m. Friday, March 24, at Head of the Harbor Church in Bass Harbor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Buchanan officiating. After the service interment will be at Hill Rest Cemetery, West Tremont. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert.
