SEDGWICK – Lyndon “Doc” Pappy Grant, 86, went to be with his Lord peacefully with his family at his side on Dec. 11, 2003, at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born May 5, 1917, in Rockland, the son of Raymond W. and Grace (Friend) Grant. Doc graduated from Hebron Academy and attended the University of Maine at Orono. He served in the U.S. army during World War II. He was an exceptional wood carver and carpenter. Doc worked very hard with the Historical Society, at the Town House, the Library and Town Office. He was fond of Kenny’s henclam fritters. He was very interested in antiques. Doc enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and special friend, Anne Perrigo of Sedgwick. Doc is survived by his three children, Lynda Fill of Stonington, Sonja Cheeseman of Enfield, Conn., and William Grant of Sedgwick; 11 grandchildren, Deborah Eaton of Deer isle, Sonja Myrick of Southwest Harbor, Cindy Colson of Winter Harbor, Daniel Fill and Stephen Fill both of Sedgwick, Erika Fill of Stonington, Lisa Neri, Charles Neri and Theresa Strevel all of Connecticut, Sharlene Grant of Colorado and Patrick Grant of Sedgwick; 16 great-grandchildren, Jessica and William Colson, Sierra Myrick, Daniel Fill, Amanda Fill, Braden Ryder, Jacob and Kyle Neri, Alicia and Michael Corneau, Sierra, Alexandra, Kayla, and Noah Strevel, Saylor and Graham Grant. He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Grindal Grant and a grandson, Sean Grant. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at the Sargentville Church. Friends may visit from 1 p.m. until time of the service. Interment will be at Forest Home Cemetery, Sargentville.
