ST. ALBANS and CORINNA Mabel I. Clukey, 92, died peacefully Sept. 4, 2007, at a Skowhegan hospital with family by her bedside. Mabel was born April 6, 1915, in Eddington, a daughter of David and Effie (Mayhew) Keezer. Mabel spent her early years and was educated in the towns of Eddington and Holden, where she met and married her husband, Charles Raymond Clukey, May 26, 1938. Raymond predeceased her Nov. 10, 2001; and a son, Philip Charles Clukey predeceased her Feb. 1, 2002. Mabel worked for many years as a cook and housekeeper at prominent places at Sandy Point, Harvard, Mass., and the Blethen House, Dover-Foxcroft, but most of all she was the cook and housekeeper for her loving family. Mabel lived at Sunshine Village, Corinna, before moving to Fair Haven Terrace, St. Albans. Mabel was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Corinna. A devoted wife and mother, Mabel is survived by five children, Dorothy Peters and husband, Glen, Maurice Clukey, Charles Clukey and wife, Karen, all of St. Albans, Kenneth Clukey of Caribou, and Barbara Davis Fitzpatrick of Oregon; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Leslie and wife, Ann Keezer, of Hermon; and three sisters, Bertha Mutzabaugh of Glenburn, Florence Brooks of Bangor, and Jeanette Robinson of Georgia. In addition to her husband and son, Mabel was also predeceased by five brothers, Victor, Walter, Ernest, Albert and Roland; three sisters, Doris, Flora, and Eleanor. Graveside funeral and committal services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, in the family lot at Maloon Cemetery, St. Albans. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
