MADELEINE SAINDON POWERS PRESQUE ISLE – Madeleine Saindon Powers, 88, died July 21, 2004, after a brief illness at the Aroostook Medical Center. She was born July 6, 1922, in Brunswick, the daughter of Alfred and Olivine (Lebel) Saindon. After graduating from high school, she served her country on the home front during World War II as a civilian cleric at Presque Isle Army Air Corp Base. She then met and on July 3, 1948, married James Powers, and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a communicant at St. Mary’s Catholic Church as well as being an active member of the Daughters of Isabella Mary Magdalene Circle 639. Madeleine was a true sports fan and would often listen to or watch the Red Sox or a golf match. We go through life reading about women of great faith in the Holy Scriptures and hear of their achievements everyday on the evening news. What we fail to realize is these women of faith are with us everyday. Madeleine was one of these women. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Nelson and her husband, Carey, Anne McQuade and her husband, Ross; sons, David and his wife, Pam, Joseph and his wife, Sue; her grandchildren include Carey Nelson and his wife, Jennifer, Patrick Nelson and his fianc?e, Bree Barge, Ben and Nicole McQuade, Zachary Powers, and Jesse, Katelyn, and Michaela Powers. At the family’s request, visitation will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Alfred Irving celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery on Chapman Street following the service.
