RAY CITY, Ga. – Madeline Dineen McConnell, 97, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at a Valdosta, Ga., hospital Madeline was born Nov. 30, 1910, in Millinocket, the daughter of Frank J. and Edna (Reed) Dineen. She graduated from Stearns High School in 1928, and worked many years at Great Northern Paper Co., before she and a girlfriend struck off for Miami during the war. There she met and married Bill McConnell and moved back to Millinocket in 1946, living there until 1952, when they moved back to Florida. She had been a hospital administrative secretary most of her life. She faithfully kept in touch with family and friends with letters and cards. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Pat Tait and husband, Buzz, of Ray City, Ga.; her dearest pet friend of all times, Maltese poodle, Gigi; one sister, Lillian Bears of Millinocket; two grandsons, Todd Tait and wife, Sissie, of Hahira, Ga., and Terry Tait and wife, Barb Lister-Tait, of Farmington Hills, Mich.; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Sofia Tait; nieces, Linda Boyd, Rhonda Garvin and Bernardine Szawerda; and nephews, Theo Brown and Doug Bears. She was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Dineen; sisters, Helen Brown and Ethel LePage; nephew, Bernard Brown; and niece, Delores McFarlane. Graveside services will be at the family lot at Millinocket Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
