WASHBURN – Madeline K. Corey, 71, wife of the late Merlin Corey, died Aug. 31, 2007, at her home. She was born Sept. 18, 1935, in Masardis, the daughter of Lewis and Eva (Nadeau) Carman. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Washburn. Madeline enjoyed spending time with family and friends, quilting, sewing and gardening. She was an active member of the Washburn Snowmobile Club and especially enjoyed helping the elderly in her community. Predeceasing her in addition to her husband and parents, were her children, Merlin Corey Jr., Sherlene and Merlene Corey; brothers and sister, Paul Carman, David Carman, Ronald Carman, Stephen George Carman and Sue Fish. She is survived by two sons, Tony Corey and his wife, Gail, of Salem, Mass., and Dean Corey of Conroe, Texas; a daughter, Corlene Singletary and her husband, Thomas, of Washburn; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sisters, Doris Guertin of Raymond, Charlene Dougan and Emilie Marish, both of Fairfield, Calif., Jeannie Collins of Magnolia Springs, Ala., and Angeline Cleary of Minitare, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Washburn, with the Rev. David Raymond officiating.
