SPRINGFIELD, Mass. David Lewis Thompson, 62, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Heritage Hall, Agawam, Mass. Born in Springfield, Mass., to the late Elmer H. and Ruth (Walsh) Thompson. He was a lifelong Longmeadow, Mass., resident, raised by his father, Elmer H. and Terizina (Bianchi) Thompson. David attended Staunton Military Academy, Staunton, Va., and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts and was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Longmeadow, Mass. David was a volunteer for the Longmeadow Fire Department and was vice president of the Walter Drake Co., for 10 years. He owned and operated E.H. Thompson, Inc., Springfield, Mass., for more than 30 years. David loved his work, traveling and most of all his family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lynn (Gordinier) Thompson of Springfield, Mass.; his three daughters, Kimberly L. Mirer and her husband, attorney Josh Mirer of Longmeadow, Mass., Whitney T. Thompson-Hebert and her husband, Todd, of East Longmeadow, Mass., and Page L. Thompson-Westcott and her husband, Jason, of Longmeadow, Mass.; his brother, Peter Thompson and his wife, Karen, of Spruce Head; his sister, Sandra A. Thompson of Chicopee, Mass.; his mother-in-law, Louise Guernsey of Springfield, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Connor, Olivia, Hunter, McKenna, Carter, Max and Parker; his sister-in-law, Joan Rogers and her son, Dylan; and his niece and several nephews. The services and burial will be private for the family.
