LEE – Madeline (Lancaster) Dingley, 93, wife of the late Fred R. Dingley, died Jan. 7, 2007, at her home. She was born April 13, 1913, in Lee, the daughter of Everard F. and Annie Mae (Libby) Lancaster. Madeline attended Lincoln schools and graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1930. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Gorham State Teachers College and a master’s degree in education from the University of Maine – Orono. She taught school in Lincoln for 14 years, was supervising principal of the cadet training program at Presque Isle State Teachers College for six years and supervising teacher, training school, Gorham State College for 13 years. Mrs. Dingley was a member of the Maine Teachers Association, National Education Association, Gorham Teachers Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Maine State Employees Association, retired, lifelong member of the Lincoln Methodist Church and a former member of the Lee Literary Club, of which she served as treasurer. Madeline married Fred R. Dingley in 1964 and together they had 40 wonderful years together before his passing in April of 2004. They traveled extensively for many years and enjoyed their home on the Arab Road. She is survived by cousins, C. Evans Hart and Mildred Hart Johnson of Holden, Alice Martin of Mackinac Island, Mich., Donald Libby of Grand Rapids, Mich., Fr. Donald L. Libby of Travis City, Mich., Paul Libby of Portland, Ore., and their families. A graveside service will be held in June at the Lincoln Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce Young officiating.
