She fought several courageous battles over the years with numerous ailments. The love that she had for her family gave her the courage and strength to endure each battle. Madeline’s pride and joy was her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were like a beautiful flower garden. Each flower being unique in its own way and having such magnificent beauty. She nurtured each of them with her unconditional love and affection. She was so very proud of each child. Her extremely positive attitude and her deep Christian faith made her such an easy person to love. Even in her darkest days when you ask how she was doing she would reply, “I think I’m doing better.” Everyone enjoyed being in her presence. Madeline will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She always enjoyed watching sports on TV. One of her greatest joys was watching Tiger Woods play golf. Her sports climax was the Red Sox winning the World Series. She never gave up on them. She also enjoyed going to the family camp at East Grand Lake, where she enjoyed playing cribbage and “63”. She enjoyed talking across the table to her partner throughout the entire game and got the nickname “Little Chatter Box.” She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Rolins in 1998; and her daughter, Yvonne Hottinger in 1991. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her twin sister, Pauline Black in 1973; twin brothers, Kendall and Russell, who died at birth, and a brother Vernon that lived eight months. She is survived by her sons, Lawrence Hunter and his wife, Mary, of Mapleton, and Roger Hunter and his wife, Dianna, of Durham and Florida; a son-in-law, Joseph Hottinger, of Florida; sisters-in-law, Joyce Hunter of Patten, Ruth Hunter Baker of Bucksport; Eleanor Sargeant of Machias and Dorothy Hunter of Houlton; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.
