SWANS ISLAND – Malcolm “Buddy” Edwin Martin Sr., 67, died Nov. 29, 2005, in Ellsworth. He was born Dec. 31, 1937, on Swans Island, the son of Malcolm James and Avis Mildred (Harvey) Martin. Malcolm was known as “Buddy” to the island, he drove the school bus for 29 years. Several generations of kids rode on the bus with him and will miss Buddy deeply. He was the island mechanic for years and could fix anything, from heavy equipment to lawn mowers. Buddy wore several “hats” throughout his life but his days as the school bus driver will be remembered forever. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Carolyn (Clarke) Martin; his children, Jackie, Judy, Malcolm Jr. and Kathy; stepdaughter, Yvonne; one sister, Jean; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. Buddy was predeceased by his parents. Graveside services will be held noon Friday, Dec. 2, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Swans Island. All are welcome to attend.
