HOULTON – Mrs. J. Thomas Fitzpatrick, 87, passed away Dec. 22, 2005, at Madigan Estates after a lingering illness. She was born Dec. 29, 1917, in Houlton, the daughter of Harry and Gertrude (Crabbe) Crafts. She graduated from Houlton High School and the Madigan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She spent her early nursing career in New York, Boston and Portland, returning to Houlton to teach surgical nursing students and doing occasional private and general duty nursing. In 1961, she became the operating room supervisor, a position she enjoyed until her retirement in 1969. She was a life long member of St. Mary’s Church, a past member of the Madigan Alumnae Association, Maine State Nurses Association, Columbus Guild, Houlton Council of Catholic Women, the Houlton Garden Club and a past trustee of the Houlton Regional Hospital. Her interests included antiquing, cooking, crafts and travel but her passion was spending time with her family and creating a warm and loving home for them. Surviving are her loving husband of 61 years, “Tommy”; her children, Jane Johnson and her husband, Scott, Dennis and his wife, Sandra, Maureen Todd and her husband, Richard, Kevin and his wife, Marissa Ianucci; grandchildren, Abigail and Eliza Johnson, Jennifer Mroz and Hilary Blythe, Patrick and Molly Todd, and Kendall and Liam Fitzpatrick. In addition she is survived by her sisters, Mary Jo Tippmann of Indiana and Leona Briggs of Oregon; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Dorothy Barlock; and a brother, Leo Crafts. Friends may call 3:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St. Houlton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Houlton. Internment will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery immediately following.
