NAUGATUCK, Conn. and OLD TOWN – Margaret M. Vowles, 85, died peacefully at Beacon Brook Nursing Home, Feb. 16, 2006, following a long illness. She was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Orono, the daughter of Augustus J. and Catherine M. (Lozier) Jeddrie. She was a resident of Old Town for 43 years. Margaret was a nurses’ aid at Orono Commons Nursing Home, then worked at Kegan Lown Shoe Company where she retired in 1986. Margaret dedicated her life to her family and her religion. She was a talented singer and enjoyed singing with the family, accompanied by her husband on the piano. She also was a member of St. Joseph’s Church (now Holy Family Parish) and its choir in Old Town. Margaret enjoyed sewing, crafts and spending time with family and friends. Margaret, known to family and friends as Marguerite, is survived by her husband of 51 years, Vernon E. Vowles of Naugatuck, Conn.; three daughters, Pamela A. St. Peter and her husband, Anthony, of Hallowell, Karen M. Wilke and her husband, Douglas, of Waterbury, Conn. and Thelma M. Teran and her husband, Luis Robles, of Lowell, Mass. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and her seven grandchildren, Benjamin St. Peter, Douglas Wilke Jr., Beth Wilke, Pedro Teran, Amy St. Peter, Jenna Wilke and Zachary Teran. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Albert G. and John J. Jeddrie. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, at Holy Family Parish in Old Town, with the Rev. Bill Labbe, celebrant. All are invited to the Holy Family Parish Center for continued fellowship and light luncheon following the funeral. Spring burial will be at Lawndale Cemetery.
