BROOKLIN – Margaret M. Bridges, 92, wife of the late Clarence Bridges, died Sept. 1, 2007, at an Ellsworth health care facility. She was born March 29, 1915, in Blue Hill, the daughter of Ernest and Lena (Wardwell) McIntyre. A recent resident of Collier’s Nursing Center, Ellsworth, she lived in both Blue Hill and Brooklin. She was a 1932 graduate of George Stevens Academy, Blue Hill, and a past president of its alumni association. She graduated from Gorham Normal School, now the University of Southern Maine, in 1934, and again in 1938, receiving a Bachelor of Science in elementary education in the first class to receive a degree from the school. She was a life member of its alumni association and of the National Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Maine Retired Teacher Association and the Hancock County unit of the same organization. Retiring from the Blue Hill Consolidated School in 1980, she also taught school in East Blue Hill, Scarborough, Ellsworth and Straford, Conn. She was a member of Blue Hill Congregational Church and a member and past president of its Ladies Day Circle. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post No. 85, Blue Hill and was a 55-year member of East Blue Hill Grange. She is survived by daughter, Jane Wyllie of Milford, Ohio; daughter, Anne Bridges of Knoxville, Tenn.; son, David Bridges of Fort Yukon, Ark.; and son, Richard Bridges of Augusta. She is also survived by sons-in-law, Duane Wyllie and Paul Bates; daughter-in-law, Diane Bridges; grandchildren, Chad and Scott Wyllie, Elizabeth Bates, Gabriel and Jamie Bridges, David and Joanna Bridges; stepgrandchildren, Gavin Rifredi, Jolene, Lewis and Andrew Firmin; great-granddaughter, Angelica Firmin; brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Jean McIntyre of Bath; sister-in-law, Celia Laughlin of Brooklin; and three nieces. Private burial will be at Mount Ephraim Cemetery, North Brooklin. A memorial service will be held at Blue Hill Congregational Church on a date and time to be announced.
