EAGLE LAKE – Dr. J. Richard Long, 71, died unexpectedly Sept. 1, 2007, at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1935, in Napadogan, New Brunswick, the son of Francis D. Long and Yvonne Edna Michaud. Dr. Long was a urologist and practiced in Canada and United States, after completing his residency at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Long spent many vacations at Eagle Lake with his family, while living and working as a physician in Waterloo, Iowa. He finally fulfilled his dream of moving to Eagle Lake with his wife, Judy, when he retired in 1992. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Judith (Frie) Long of Eagle Lake; one son, Dr. Richard Long and his wife, Julie, of Bangor; two daughters, Debby Reece and her husband, Glen, of Bangor and Denise Needham and her husband, Bob, of Veazie; grandchildren, Christina, Celine and Jean-Richard Long, Zachary, Dominic, Matthew and Nicholas Needham; two sisters, Jacquie LeBoeuf of Fort Kent and Joanne Guimond of Tennessee; and one brother, Frank Long of Ontario. There will be no viewing at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. After the services, those who wish may join the family at their residence on Sly Brook Road. Arrangements are being conducted by Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
