WATERVILLE – Margaret Melissa Farnham, 93, a longtime resident of Waterville, died Friday, May 11, 2007, at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home, Waterville. She was born Dec. 24, 1913, in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of Martin and Ellen (Dodman) Teal. As one of 11 sisters and brothers, Peg grew up in Lynn, Mass., and attended the Lynn, Mass., public schools. Her hus-band of 67 years, Carlton S. Farnham, died in 2001. In 1933, they moved to Waterville, from Lynn, Mass., where Carl started and ended his career with Hollingsworth & Whitney/Scott Paper Co., Winslow. During her years in Waterville, Peg was a beloved and supportive wife, an excellent homemaker, and devoted mother of four children. Throughout the years Peg welcomed many into her home, including Carl’s three brothers while attending Colby College, the Teal and Farnham families and many friends. All visits included the best of a homemade meal, a gracious smile and that special hospitality for which Peg will be forever be known. Peg was a very active member of the Pleasant Street United Methodist Church and the organizations of the United Methodist Women and Merriweds. She was also an active member of the Saint Andrew’s Society of Maine and the Waterville Garden Club. Peg is survived by her children, Willard C. Farnham of Car-rabassett Valley and Naples, Fla., Lloyd D. Farnham of Concord, N.H., Melissa M.F. Burton of Boxford, Mass., and Melinda F. Choate of Augusta; one brother, Lincoln Teal of Lynn, Mass; 10 grandchildren, Douglas of Bangor, Donald of Winterport, David Farnham of Rockland, Marcia Harris of Groton, N.H., Susan Alto of Chelmsford, Mass., Gregory Farnham of Missoula, Mont., Andrew and Robert Choate of Augusta and Katherine and Matthew Burton of Boxford, Mass.; eight great-grand-children and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 21, at Redington Funeral Home, 5 Park St., Waterville. All are welcome to celebrate Peg’s life 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, Waterville. Burial will be held after at Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterville.
