NEWPORT – Margie C. Ludlow, 89, died Feb. 2, 2006, in Fremont, N.H. She was born July 29, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of George and Margaret (Siebert) Martin. She attended Brooklyn, N.Y. public schools and graduated from Miner’s Business School. After the death of her husband, Frederick in 1968, Margie and her daughter, Lynn moved to Newport in 1969. She was employed by the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Newport for many years. Margie was a member of High Street Congregational Church, Newport. She was a longtime member and officer of the Newport Sanitary District. She was a member of Barrows-Skidgel Post 105 American Legion Auxiliary, Newport Senior Citizens, a former member of the Palmyra Senior Citizens and the Palmyra Christmas Club, and belonged to the Friendship Craft Club of Newport. Margie was also an active volunteer with the Newport Food Bank. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Kurt of Palmyra. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Lafferty of Derry, N.H.; two grandsons, Neal and wife, Nichelle Lafferty of Hampton, Va., and Devon Lafferty of Derry, N.H.; a great-grandson, Remy Lafferty; nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at High Street Congregational Church, 24 High St., Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden, officiating.
