MILFORD – Marguerite Gagne, 96, passed away Sept. 9, 2006, after a brief illness. She was born May 21, 1910, the daughter of George and Alice Wiles. Marguerite became the wife of Charles Eugene Gagne and together they raised 10 children, until the untimely death of Charles. She always loved children and was known to always take care of her grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, who will always think of her fondly. Marguerite will be remembered by many residents of Milford as the lady of March of Dimes. A year would not go by without her walking for the March of Dimes. Another hobby of hers was baking. Marguerite could always be depended on for pies at the bean suppers at the Milford Congregational Church, as well as for her homemade afghans for the church bazaars. In her earlier years she would make clothes for dolls and donate them to the Old Town Head Start Program, where her grandson, Robert attended. Whenever Marguerite was called upon to help, she was always there. Marguerite is survived by four sons, Albert and Peter, both of Florida, Richard of Milford and Robert of Brewer; three daughters, Viola Melanson of Hudson, Dolly Robertson of Texas and Eva Reardon of Arizona. Marguerite is also survived by a special grandson, Robert Ouellette of Mesa, Ariz., whom she raised from birth; also surviving her are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; three daughters, Lillian Pinkham, Fannie Anderson and Barbara Dickinson; one brother, Bertram Wiles; two sisters, Marion Dunn and Elizabeth Miller; a special granddaughter, Linda Lee Searles; and a grandson, Benjamin Gagne. Marguerite was laid to rest next to her husband at the Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. All memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
