BANGOR – Marguerite L. Dwyer, M.D., died peacefully on March 14, 2004, after a brief illness at age 87. Born on June 18, 1916, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of George and Ethel McKay. Marguerite was a 57-year resident of Bangor, where she lived with her husband, Clement S. Dwyer, M.D. (deceased). She is survived by her son, Clement S. Dwyer Jr. and his wife, Martha H. Dwyer, and their daughters, Elizabeth and Catherine; her son, Thomas M. Dwyer and his wife, Janet Capponi Dwyer and their children, Thomas M. Dwyer Jr., Samantha Capponi and Sherri Capponi. Marguerite graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1933, from Tufts University in 1937 and from Tufts Medical School in 1941. Marguerite was one of the first women interns at Eastern Maine General Hospital in 1941 to 1942, and completed her residency in pediatrics at the Charles V. Chapin Hospital in Providence, R.I., in 1947. Marguerite was a lifetime member of the Eastern Maine Medical Center Womens Auxiliary, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Bangor, and the Bar Harbor Historical Society. While devoted to her family she also had time to operate the Criterion Theater in Bar Harbor for a decade. Visiting hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at home, 35 Maple St., Bangor. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at St. Saviour’s Parish, 41 Mt. Desert St., Bar Harbor, with the Rev. Jonathan B. Appleyard, rector and celebrant.
