ORRINGTON – Marguerite Mildred Quimby, 75, wife of the late Cecil Quimby, died Nov. 19, 2005, at her home in Orrington after a long respiratory illness. She was born in Bangor, June 12, 1930, the daughter of Elmer and Pearl (Jenkins) Rogers. Marguerite attended schools in Orrington and Brewer. As a member of the Orrington Center Church, she taught Sunday school and VBS during the upbringing of her three children and faithfully served her Lord wherever needed, including the Ladies’ Aid. Marguerite enjoyed attending both worship and social events whenever her health permitted. She was comforted having her grandson Ken sit at her bedside reading from her Bible the last days of her life. In the late 1950s, Marguerite worked with her beloved husband, Cecil, to build their house from foundation to rooftop. After the family moved in 1959, she kept a detailed record of each home improvement year by year. Marguerite worked part-time several falls picking apples at Bowden’s Orchard, and she worked as a receptionist at PENQUIS Family Planning for 19 years. Children were a very special joy throughout Marguerite’s life. She delighted in their visits and spent much of her time remembering them with special gifts. Her hobbies included taking photos at family gatherings and preparing handwork for her craft sales. Marguerite also drew much satisfaction from the company of her “grand-dogs”, Molly, Hunter and Bandit, and “grand-kitties” Milo, Kizzy, Snickers and Scooter. Marguerite will be greatly missed by her daughter, Deborah Quimby, and her friend, Denise Doble of Orrington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Linda Quimby and Gary and Rinda Quimby, all of Orrington; five grandchildren, Katie, Matthew and Ken Quimby, Kris Leonard and her husband, Ray, all of Orrington, and Patrick Wardwell of Vermont; three great-grand-children, Hannah and Emily Leonard of Orrington and Hunter Styles Wardwell of Mars Hills; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Clayton and Ruth Rogers of Brewer, Sumner and Velma Rogers of Hampden, Selden and Cleeesther Rogers of Seattle, Wash. and sisters-in-law, Josie Quimby and Carolyn Howard, both of Orrington; plus several cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and family may visit 5-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Orrington Center Church, Dow Road, Orrington, with the Rev. Albert C. Buzzell, Th.M, Pastor and teacher, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Orrington. Gifts in memory of Marguerite may be sent to the Orrington Center Church, care of Mark Chellis, 16 Elm St., West Hampden, ME 04444, or to the Williams Syndrome Association, P.O. Box 297, Clawson, MI 48017-0297.
