EAST MACHIAS – Mariam E. Hasty, 90, passed away Jan. 21, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at Marshall Health Care Facility. She was born Feb. 29, 1916, in East Machias, the daughter of the late Clarence and Elvena Blanche (Drew) Dennison. Mariam graduated from Washington Academy in 1935. During her lifetime, Mariam worked as a certified nurse’s aide at the Marshall Boarding Home on Cooper Street. She also worked at the Bluebird Motel and at MacKenzies Market. She especially enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She is survived by a daughter, Blanche Johnson and husband, Edgar; grandchildren, Teresa Saddler and husband, Karl, and Glenn Johnson and fiance, Tara Day and her children, Breanna and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Lukas, Cody, Camon and Katherine; one brother, Clarence Dennison and his wife, Joan, of Gilford, N.H.; a sister, Priscilla Thompson and husband, Ernest, of Limestone; and several nieces and nephews. Mariam was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1996; three brothers, Raymond, Ralph and Lawrence; and one sister, Mildred Kelley. A graveside service will be held in the spring at a date to be announced.
