BAILEYVILLE – Marie Ann Tewhey, 97, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at a Calais nursing home. Marie was born July 26, 1908, in St. Claire, P.Q. Canada, daughter of the late Francois and Lea (Fauchon) LaRochelle. In 1932, she married James Tewhey in Winthrop. Marie was the housekeeper for Father Andrew Arseneau for 35 years. She was a member of St. James The Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville and Ladies Sodality. In life, church was Marie’s first priority. In earlier years, she enjoyed reading and crewel work. Marie was predeceased by her husband in 1957, and four sisters and four brothers. Surviving are her sister, Antoinette Fleury of Winthrop; a brother, Marcel LaRochelle of St. Malachie, P.Q. Canada; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Ella Arseneau and Rita McLaughlin, both of Baileyville, and Father Brian D. Blanchette of Winthrop. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James The Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville, by Fr. Brian D. Blanchette and Fr. Frank Morin. Visiting hours will also be held 10-11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Lake St., Winthrop, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Brian D. Blanchette. Burial will follow in Glenside Cemetery, Winthrop.
