ELLSWORTH – Marie C. Nelson, 96, died Aug. 17, 2007, in Ellsworth. She was born June 20, 1911, in Stonington, the daughter of Elmer W. and Hazel (Stinson) Calley. Marie was a wonderful seamstress and loved animals, reading and crossword puzzles. She was an avid camper in her younger years and loved card games. Marie was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Augusta, and she attended St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, Ellsworth. She is survived by her daughter, Joan and husband, Ralph Preble; two grandchildren, Bethany Preble and Stephanie Vikberg and husband, Veine, all of Ellsworth; six great-grandchildren, Lukas, Jakob, Raiya, Kjell, Josiah and Callaghan; beloved brother-in-law, Dick Nelson and wife, Marian and their children, Ellen, Jon and Kristin, all of Washington state. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Leslie C. Nelson; her infant son, Richard Nelson; and by her kindred spirit, Dottie Noddin. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Ann Kidder officiating. Interment will be at Burnt Cove Cemetery, Stonington.
