WILMINGTON, Del. – Marie Hilton Klausmeier, 85, recently of Syracuse, N.Y., and long time resident of Wilmington, Del., passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2008. Marie was born in Bangor, and returned each year to their summer camp. She was a homemaker and an active volunteer. She was president of the board for a Wilmington nursing home and a museum guide. Marie was also a troop leader for Girl Scouts and a den mother. Marie was known for being direct. She never minced words. Her smile lit up her face and the room, and she knew how to have a good time. She treasured family, friends, wild flower bouquets and wonderful food. Marie was married to Robert L. Klausmeier in her parent’s home in Bangor, after the war, May 19, 1946. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Jane Janis of Syracuse, N.Y., and Susie Patalan of Durango, Colo.; two sons, William Klaus-meier of Eugene, Ore., and Robert F. Klausmeier of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; her brother, Thomas Hilton of Boothbay Harbor; and a sister, Jane Mealy of Rockford, Mich. She was predeceased by her bro-ther, William Hilton; and her grandson, Jed Patalan.
