BREWER – Marie “Joan” Brochu, 72, loving wife of Carroll A. Brochu for 51 years died peacefully at her home in Brewer, Feb. 13, 2006, surrounded by family. She was born March 19, 1933, in Brewer, the daughter of the late J. Robert and Alexina Delina (Sevigny) Godfrey. Joan was a graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School in 1951. She was a resident of Brewer all of her life and a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Brewer. She enjoyed playing Beano with special friends, stamping, collecting Blue Willow and most of all spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Carroll; and four children, Katherine Chapman and her husband, Stephen, of Charleston, S.C., three sons, Robert Brochu and his wife, Patty, James Brochu of Bangor and Mark Brochu and his wife, Christine, of Brewer; grandchildren, Michael, Andrew and Nicholas Chapman, Nicholas Brochu, Kylie Husson and Cody Ramsey, Emilee, Linsay, Cassandra Brochu and Josiah Brochu; two great-granddaughters; four sisters, Lorraine (Godfrey) Goody and her husband, Richard, of Zephyrhills, Fla., Rose (Godfrey) Reardon and her husband, Robert, of Zephyrhills, Fla., Elizabeth (Godfrey) Cournoyer and her husband, Richard, of Southbridge, Mass., Patricia Godfrey of Ellsworth; one brother, John Godfrey and his wife, Rebecca, of Springboro, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Peter Taylor of Stone Mountain, Ga.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father and mother; and one sister, Margaret (Godfrey) Taylor of Stone Mountain, Ga. Family and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Brewer with the Rev. Joel R. Cyr, pastor, celebrant. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor in the spring. Immediately following services, family and friends are invited to the parish center for continued fellowship and refreshments.
