FORT FAIRFIELD – Marie Omerilda “Nina” Lagasse, 82, wife of the late Lauria J. Lagasse, died Wednesday morning Sept. 15, 2004, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, after a brief illness. She was born April 8, 1922, at Saint Francois de Madawaska, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of John P. and Cesarie (Soucy) Landry. She attended local schools and was married to Lauria J. Lagasse on April 21, 1941, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. She was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield and had been employed at the A & P Processing Plant of Fort Fairfield for 13 years. Nina was a great cook and loved to camp, fish and hunt. She greatly loved her family and will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years on Dec. 23, 1995; two sisters, Patricia Landry and Bertha Zewelinski. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, R. Lauria “Pee Wee” and Barbara Lagasse of Champlain, N.Y., Charles C. and Linda Lagasse of Mapleton, Patrick Thomas and Diane Lagasse of Richfield, Wash.; one daughter and son-in-law, Marie Helen and Roger Milliard of Fort Fairfield; two brothers, Richard Landry and his wife, Lucille, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Conrad Landry of California; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. David Raymond celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Relatives and friends are invited to join in a time of fellowship at the home of Louis A. Hanson, Franklin Street (Off of Dumond Road), Fort Fairfield, immediately following the interment service. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
