LIMESTONE – Marie “Rose” (Laforest) Dixon, 92, passed away peacefully June 1, 2008, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born July 13, 1915, in Drummond, New Brunswick, the youngest child of Johnny and Marie (Frazer) Laforest. Rose was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, where she was also a devoted communicant. She was an active member of Daughters of Isa-bella Circle No. 638, Caribou. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club, Limestone and Senior Seniority, Caribou. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. The time she spent with her family was warm, tender and special to all. She always gave strength to her family and she was truly a precious gift, a blessing that brought happiness to many. The love she gave, her sweet smile and words of wisdom will always be treasured by her family. She enjoyed music, dancing with her husband, camping, boating, fishing and working in her flower garden. Rose especially liked making people happy. She always extended a hand of friendship to all she met -a friend to everyone. Rose enjoyed “living” and celebrating life. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and especially her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years and love of her life, Harmon. Rose is survived by her three daughters and two sons, Vernon Dixon and his wife, Ruth, of Lincoln, Mary Theresa Wunderlich and her husband, Bob, of Limestone, Mary Elsie Pickels and her husband, Gerry, of Cabot, Ark., Al Dixon and his wife, Kristen, of Newmarket, N.H., and Bea Pine and her husband, Kevin, of Connor Township. She is also sadly missed by 11 grandchildren, Robin and Carol Dixon of Limestone, Lynn Salter of Chippenham, England, David Wunderlich of Rochester, N.H., Mike Wunderlich of Clermont, Fla., Jeff Pickels of Richmond Hill, Ga., Jackie Buck of Glenwood, Ark., Chad Dixon of Exeter, N.H., Shelby Gemme of Hampton, N.H., Jason Pirie of Manchester, N.H., and Matthew Pirie of Connor Township; and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father David Raymond officiating in a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will take place at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone.
