MONTPELIER, Vt. – Marion Dunlop Parker, 93, died on Dec. 5, 2003, at the Mayo Nursing Home in Northfield. She was born Aug. 2, 1910, in Meriden, Conn., to William and Theresa (Judge) Dunlop. She married Howard H. Parker on Nov. 6, 1939, who predeceased her on Jan. 27, 2001. Before moving to Vermont in 1973, Marion and Howard lived in Maine and Connecticut where she worked as a registered nurse. Marion graduated from Southington High School, Southington, Conn., and received her nurse’s degree from the Brooklyn School of Nursing in Brooklyn, N.Y. Throughout her life she worked as a registered nurse. Marion and Howard owned and operated a nursing home in Patten. She will be remembered for her professionalism as a nurse and as a loving parent, grandparent and great-grandparent. Over the years, she quietly and effectively worked to improve the quality of life through succeeding generations and tirelessly supported her children’s far ranging activities. Survivors include sister, Dorothy Schumann of Southington, Conn.; sons, Howard Gary Parker, M.D., of Bangor and Keith Parker and his wife, Reny, of Cloverdale, Calif.; daughter, Linda Parker McIntire and her husband, Burtt, of Montpelier, Vt.; grandchildren, Sherry Duncan Battisti of Portland, Ore., Temple Parker of Bangor, Sarah Parker and her husband, Peter Cummings, of Dublin, Ireland, Eliza Parker, M.D., and her husband, Matthew Briones, of N.Y.C., N.Y., Paige McIntire and her husband, Michael Conlogue, of Montpelier, Vt., Carrie McIntire Fitz and her husband, Peter Fitz, of Worcester, Vt.; great-grandchildren, Samara Battisti of Portland, Ore., Madeline and Thomas Conlogue of Montpelier Vt., Cadence Briones of N.Y.C., N.Y., and Alden Fitz of Worcester, Vt. There will be no calling hours. Guare & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
