BANGOR – Marion Ruth Russell passed away Feb. 16, 2007. She was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Parkman, the daughter of Ivan and Grace (Chesley) Foss. Marion was a 1951 graduate of PCHS and a 1999 graduate of the University of Maine, with a Bachelor of Arts in studio art. While at the University of Maine, she received the Presidential Achievement Pin, was inducted into the Golden Key National Honor Society and was a proud graduate of the Onward Program. While attending school, Marion joined the Old Town United Methodist Church, where she was an active member in the choir and lay ministry. Not only did Marion excel in academics, she had a successful career in the accounting profession as well, retiring from Maine Distributors. For many years, Marion was also involved in barbershop harmony, both as a singer and director. Her other hobbies included painting, crafts, reading and sewing. But, her proudest accomplishment was being the best Grammie to her three amazing grandsons, Justin, Derek and Garrett. Their hearts were filled daily with her unconditional love. All children should be so fortunate. Marion is survived by her son, David; daughter, Debra; son-in-law, Jeffrey Courtney; her grandsons; as well as her siblings, Bernice Foss, Franklin Foss, Beatrice and husband, Skip Patterson, Charles Foss, Mary Lou and husband, Wayne Redmond. She was predeceased by her parents; and brothers, Phillip and Gayland Foss. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Jean Durham and Doris Chandler. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at Old Town United Methodist Church, 744 Stillwater Ave., Old Town. A spring graveside service will be announced at a later date at Dover Cemetery.
