BREWER – Marjorie Thompson Hart, wife of the late Gerald F. Hart, died Wednesday, March 9, at a local hospital. She was born Sept. 25, 1916, in Bath, the daughter of Harry and Gertrude (Gilman) Thompson. Marjorie graduated in 1934 from Brewer High School and in 1938 from the University of Maine, where she majored in Home Economics. She taught home economics at Monson Academy for a year after graduation, then returned to Brewer and married Gerald in 1939. She was a skilled seamstress and cook, putting her education to good purpose as a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the First Congregational Church UCC of Brewer for more than 60 years, and was active in church fairs, King’s Daughters and the Homemakers’ Club. Marjorie and Gerald participated in many University of Maine events, and were both very active in the University of Maine Alumni Association, particularly in Senior Alumni projects. They were both loyal followers of University of Maine sports, and Marjorie especially enjoyed hockey and basketball, rarely missing a game until her health prevented her from attending this year. She was also a member of the alumnae chapter of Delta Delta Delta, her college sorority. In recent years she enjoyed her weekly lunches with a special group of friends. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne K. Hart of Veazie, and her daughter, Marilyn H. Collins and son-in-law, Thomas P.
