ALLENSTOWN, N.H. – Mr. Asher S. Kneeland Jr., 76, a former Maine resident, died March 7, 2005, in New Hampshire. He was born in St. Stephen, N.B., July 6, 1928, the son of Asher and M. Katherine (McLaughlin) Kneeland Sr. He had lived in Dexter and Greenville, before moving to New Hampshire in 1965. He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono, where he was a member of TKE fraternity. Mr. Kneeland served in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1946 to 1949. He worked for both the Concord Monitor and the Union Leader as a reporter until his retirement in 1998. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vicki (Howe) Kneeland of Allenstown, N.H.; two children, Mark Kneeland and Barbara O’Brien, both of New Hampshire; four grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Hasbany of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Donald Kneeland. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Suncook United Methodist Church, Main Street in Pembroke.
