MAPLETON – Martha E. Buck 87, died Jan. 30, 2005. She was born Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1917, to parents, Joseph and Mary (Savoy) Robichaud in Neguac, New Brunswick. She had a sister, Ellen and a brother, Albert. The family eventually moved to Maine. She married Jack L.A. Buck Sr. on Aug. 25, 1937, at the home of the grooms parents in Chapman. They had an outdoor evening wedding, which was quite a celebration for the time. They were greeted by many well wishers. Their first child, Jack Jr. was born on their first anniversary, Aug. 25, 1938. They were blessed with four more sons and a daughter. She and her husband were involved in potato farming. Mattie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her flower gardens and was instrumental in providing many beautiful bouquets of flowers for the flower show at the Northern Maine Fair. She belonged to K. of P. Sisters, Mapleton Ext. and Mapleton Senior Citizens. She will be greatly missed by her daughter-in-law, Mary Anne of Mapleton; her sons and their wives, Blake and Rose, and Maynard and Joye of Mapleton and Florida; daughter, Cheryl and husband, Charles Nickerson, of Leesburg, Fla.; sons and wives, Brian and Pam of Mapleton, and David and Pam of Etna; grandchildren, Bruce, Brent, Kimberly, Barry, Tyler, Katheen, Greg, Jeff, Barbara, Blaine, Bradley, Randy, Debbie, Jennifer, Carrie, Brian Jr., Justin, Aubrey, Emily, Danielle and Susan; 35 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Rodney Pelkey; a sister-in-law, Bessie Robichaud and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack; her oldest son, Jack Jr.; a grandson, David Buck Jr.; her parents, her stepfather, Bill Ricker, whom she thought a lot of; her sister, Ellen Pelkey; and her brother, Albert Robichaud. The family sincerely thanks Anita Morin for all the wonderful care she gave Mattie. It will always be remembered. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Fox officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call that day also from 12:30 until the time of the service. A spring interment will be in the Southside Cemetery in Mapleton.
