BANGOR – Margaret Coffin, 93, died peacefully Jan. 30, 2005, at her home. Born Dec. 31, 1911, in Bangor, Margaret was the daughter of Bliss and Grace Colpitts. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1929 and married Lloyd Coffin in 1931. She and Lloyd enjoyed 45 wonderful years together until Lloyd’s death in 1976. Margaret worked for several years at Bacon Printing Company. A very active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Margaret was chair of the Altar Guild for many years. She was also very committed to her community. She organized The Symphony Women with several friends and remained an avid supporter of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the YWCA, EMMC Auxiliary, Junior League, Chapter B P.E.O. Sisterhood, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Quipus Club and Tuscan Chapter No. 148 OES. She was president of the King’s Daughters Board and of the Athene Club and was also a member of the Board of Activities of Phillips-Strickland House. Until quite recently, she was also the treasurer of the School Children’s Fund. Margaret, or Bebe, as she came to be known, really enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She made it to their graduations, wrote them letters, even when the pain of her arthritis made it a laborious task, sent them beef stew when she worried they weren’t eating right, memorized their ever-changing jobs, entertained their friends, regaled them with stories of the past, and always, always, always told them she loved them. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Constance Carter and son-in-law, Edward Brazee; her grandchildren, Camden Carter, Kristopher Carter, Christopher Brazee, Jeffrey Brazee and his wife, Amada Olson; her sister, Madeline McGibbon and her brother-in-law, Roy; her sister-in-law, Marcelle Coffin; her nieces and nephews, Barbara Barker, Richard Colpitts, George Colpitts, Margaret Aubrey, Virginia Johnson, John Grenfell, Lornagrace Stuart, Pamela Smith, Cheryl Coffin, Millard Coffin; and her loving and dedicated caregivers, Richard Coleman, Fay McLain, Christine Beaulieu, Rosemary Soucy, Phyllis Bishop and Marie Como. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, French Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Kevin Holsapple, rector, officiating. Those who wish to remember Margaret in a special way may make gifts in her memory to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 234 French St., Bangor, ME 04401; or the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, P.O.
