DETROIT – Martha O. Siegmund, 80, of Detroit, passed away Nov. 13, 2004, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital. She was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Padukah, Ky., the daughter of Everet and Irma Owsley. She was educated in Ballard Co., K.Y. schools. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy Waves after she graduated from high school. Upon her discharge from the Navy she enrolled at Murray State University. She received a bachelor of science in business education in 1949. While attending college she met and married Carlton ‘Bud’ Siegmund. She taught school in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, and in 1981 retiring to Maine. She is survived by her husband, Carlton ‘Bud’ Siegmund; two sons, Gary Siegmund of Cadiz, Ky., and Bruce Siegmund of Helena, Mont.; four grandchildren, Amber Siegmund of Cadiz, Ky., Ashley Robison of Clarksville, Tenn., Carlton F Siegmund II of Moscow, Idaho and Deana Siegmund of Helena, Mont.; and two great-granddaughters, Mary Shine Robison and Jessie Siegmund. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at the First Congregational Church, 20 Park St., Pittsfield, ME 04967. Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield.
