CORINTH – Martin E. Gonya, 67, the husband of Emily May (Poole) Gonya, died April 9, 2005, after a long illness. He was born Oct. 2, 1937, in Milo, the son of Benjamin and Mable (Willey) Gonya. He attended the Bangor Baptist Church and owned and operated Gonya and Son Septic Service for more than 47 years. Surviving in addition to his wife of Corinth are 11 children and their spouses, Vicki Elia and Lou of Pennsylvania, Sherman Gonya and Julia of Charleston, Mary Hennessey and Bryan of Pennsylvania, Allen Gonya and Pok Sun of New York, Martin Gonya Jr. and Regina of Massachusetts, Cheri Cocco and Grant of New Hampshire, Lori Gonya and Mark of Massachusetts, Pammy Jean Gonya of Brewer, Norman Gonya of Auburn, Michael Gonya of Gray and Sherwood Gonya and Lillian of Corinth; a brother, John Gonya and Marie of New Hampshire; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends may call noon until the time of services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth.
