CALAIS – Patricia Ann Geist, 67, died April 9, 2005, at her residence in Calais following a long illness. Pat was born April 10, 1937, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Paul and Ada (Hunter) Harmon. She was an arts and crafts teacher for kindergarten and a swimming instructor. Pat loved animals and was known as the “critter sitter.” She also enjoyed arts and crafts, needle point, being a practical joker, and was a dedicated Girl Scout leader as well as a “swimmer mom.” During her illness, Pat was known to be strong willed and a fighter. She will be remembered by all for being a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and a dedicated friend. Surviving are her life long companion, Alan Smith of Calais; her children, Stacey Whittington and her husband, Lesley of Old Town, Darcey Peakall and her husband, Myron, of Bangor, and Curtis Geist and his wife, Joey, of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren, Chloe, Graham, Jack, Shannon, and Corey; a sister, Paula Schultz and her husband, Edward of San Diego, Calif.; a niece, Gayle Fleury; and a nephew, Ted Schultz, both of California. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, with the Rev. Ray Morse and Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
