MARY C. SPROWL LIBERTY – Mary C. Sprowl, 92, died peacefully Friday, May 7, 2004, at Rockland. Mary was born April 17, 1912, at Richmond, Va., the daughter of Rev. Samuel Calvin Weatherly and Norma Lillian (Kelly) Weatherly. Her father was a Methodist minister so they moved a lot. She spent her childhood in North and South Carolina, Virginia and Strawberry Plains, Tenn. She moved to Maine in 1936, and lived in Liberty for more than 30 years. She liked to do for her neighbors. She enjoyed having garage sales She and her husband, Earl belonged to the Good Sam Club. She baked pastries and breads to sell when she lived on Georges Lake. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Sprowl, in 1985. Mary is survived by one stepson, Richard E. Sprowl and his wife, Jane, of Warren; five step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at the Rackliffe Funeral Home. Friends may gather prior to the service beginning at 12:30.
